JACOB LEUNG

LOCATION: SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

Jacob Leung was practically born into the kitchen, growing up surrounded by food at his father’s all-you-can-eat restaurants in regional NSW. His love for food quickly blossomed into a passion that would ultimately drive his career as a food stylist, food presenter and author.

Jacob served as the host of Asia Unplated on SBS Food with Diana Chan, and is a regular on the cooking show Everyday Gourmet with Justine Schofield, and has more recently been hosting Virtual Cooking Events for corporate clients. Jacob also frequents on Sunrise on 7 and other daytime television series, where he demonstrates his skill through cooking segment.

Whilst still in high school, Jacob won the NSW Commercial Cookery competition. He then went on to take home the Australian Good Taste People’s Choice Award for his classic slow-cooked Asian pork belly recipe, which is where he gained the attention of well known Food Editor Michelle Southan. Michelle spotted Jacob’s natural talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in food styling. Intrigued, and maybe a little naive, Jacob made the move from Forster to Sydney to start a new life in a profession he had never heard of; a food stylist.

Since then, Jacob has worked with the likes of Taste.com, Woolworths, White Wings, ALDI, Barilla, Matt Preston, Warren Mendes and Michelle Southan. Last year Jacob was Food Ambassador for Pedestrian.TV’s Selfish Weekend and in 2018 he accomplished his greatest feat yet: writing, publishing and releasing his debut cookbook, Jacob Food - an entertainer’s guide your food you’ll actually make.

Jacob’s cookbook focuses on moments and food that are best shared. Each chapter is dedicated to a specific occasion with recipes that will impress anyone from next-door neighbours to picky grandmothers or even that special someone (Netflix and grill, anyone?). His personality and sense of humour jump out of the page, giving readers practical tips and hacks that both rookies and accomplished home-chefs can appreciate.

Jacob’s skills aren’t limited to just print though. Whether he’s creating video content for his growing online audience, touring his cookbook with live demonstrations or even presenting on camera, Jacob’s charismatic personality and passion for food translate across every platform he engages with.
